Finally Got The Key

Not much to say in this post really.
I went down the town hall and picked up mt allotment key this morning. So that means plot 94 is now officially mine.
I am hoping to get down there this weekend but as I’m dealing with the garden this week I’m not sure I will have chance. Although I will get some bits planted at home which should be ready for planting out in a couple of weeks. Hopefully this plan comes together reasonably well.

Viewed And Accepted

So I went to view the allotment on Sunday and it’s not that bad.

It sits at the end of one of the main walkways in the corner. Has 2 or 3 “parking spaces” next to it. There is a tap almost on the plot (although the water does get turned of in winter), very handy. It has 6 distinct beds 2 of which are in reasonable health the others are now mostly grass. Also happily it would seem that the plots around mine are in use and maintained. And as an added bonus, the site warden is only a couple of plots away and I have to past his plot to enter and exit the site.

As I have already said it is 5 rods so only a half plot. It comes with some bean growing canes (already in place), A fruit climbing frame (again in place (though it may move)), an old shelter come shed that needs clearing and repairing, a possible compost heap but will have to remove the brambles from it to find out, and a lot of waste to remove. My partner took a couple of pictures but I haven’t managed to get hold of her phone in order to get them. I will try to post them in the next couple of days.

If we manage to get down to the allotment on Sunday them I will get a few more pictures but we shall see.

Drum Roll Please…..

So we get home on Saturday and on the doormat is a letter from the council.

I have been offered a 5 rod plot at the cost of £25 per year and a £10 deposit for the site key. And as it turns out my council also bump you to the bottom of the waiting list if you turn down a plot. So let’s hope I like this one.

Still I will try to book a viewing for next Sunday at the time the site shop is open as I want to have a look round there too.

I think I should really start thinking about what to grow. I’m not sure I’ll see much in the way of harvests this year mind as time is getting on but we shall see.

I think the next post will be about the crops that I would like to grow.
